Ife Chief Imam sues for peaceful coexistence

The Chief Imam of Ifeland, Alhaji Abdulsemiu Abdulhammed, has sued for peaceful coexistence before, during and after the Olojo festival at the ancient city of Ile-Ife.

The Chief Imam gave the charge during a press conference at Ooni's Palace on Tuesday, in Ile-Ife.

The Chief Imam appealed to all Muslim faithful to embrace peace within the land, especially during the incoming ancient festival in the nooks and crannies of the land.

According to him, the Muslim leaders do not send anyone to disrupt or cause trouble during the festival.

"We are not sending anyone to cause any chaos during the Olojo festival, for traditionalists are not disturbing us during our own festivals, so why should we disturb theirs?

"Therefore, we are appealing to all Muslims in Ife to allow peaceful coexistence, for one religion does not disturb others and there is no family that doesn't have Christians, Muslims or traditionalists in their families," the Chief Imam said.

Alhaji Abdulsemiu commended the Ooni, Obafemi Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, for his fatherly role to all religions in Ifeland, and urged all and sundry to support the Royal Father in all his deeds.
