An Ile-Ife Magistrates' Court, Ile-Ife, on Monday, remanded two secret cult members, Adefolaju Segun, 26 and Awowole Seyi, 20, for allegedly being in possession of dangerous weapons.
The Prosecutor, ASP Emmanuel Abdullahi, informed the court that the suspects and others now at large committed the offence on Aug. 20, 2025 around 02:00 am at Odowara Ilode Area, in Ile-Ife.
Abdullahi told the court that the defendants conspired among themselves to commit felony therein to wit: conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
He said that the defendants unlawfully assembled themselves and paraded as members of secret cult as well as armed themselves with dangerous weapons with intent to harm people around the vicinity.
According to him, the suspects maliciously damaged the front and back windscreen and one quarter glass of Kia Car with Reg. No: MUS 731 GM, value yet unknown, property of one Ayodeji Samuel.
Abdullahi added that the defendants maliciously damaged the front and back windscreen and one quarter glass of Primera Nissan Car with Reg No: FEE 877 AA, value yet unknown, property of one Oyeyemi Ajibola.
The Prosecutor stated further that the defendants maliciously damaged the front and back windscreen and quarter glass of unregistered Toyota Camry, value yet unknown, property of one Mukaila Basorun.
Accordingly, the suspects maliciously damaged the back windscreen of Lexus 330 car with Private Reg. No: AKINYEMI, value yet unknown, property of one Jimoh Adereti.
Abdullahi explained further that the defendants maliciously damaged two glass doors of a shop, value yet unknown, property of Awoola Olayinka.
He added that the offence was contrary to and punishable under sections: 70, 451 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The suspects, however, pleaded not guilty to seven-count charges of conspiracy, breach of peace, cultism and malicious damage.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Mudasiru Raheem, applied for the bail of the defendants on most liberal terms, and pledged that his clients would not jump bail, but would provide reliable sureties.
Magistrate Abosede Sarumi did not grant bail to the defendants, but asked their Counsel to come by way of written application.
Sarumi therefore ordered the remand of the defendants in Ile-Ife Nigerian Correctional Service pending the consideration of their bail.
She adjourned the case until Oct. 2, for hearing.
