The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has begun sensitising stakeholders ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election across the state.
Mrs Opeyemi Oladoyin, the Community Orientation and Mobilisation Officer, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ife Central Local Government, stated this during a Press briefing on Tuesday in Ile-Ife.
Oladoyin said that all efforts have been made to ensure a free, fair and credible election in the forthcoming governorship election.
She added that security personnel, market men and women, artisans and NURTW, among others, have held meetings with them on the election.
According to her, they went to the Ooni's Palace yesterday to orientate people and traditional rulers on how the election would go on well without any rancour.
"In Ile-Ife and its environs, we don't want any political violence, but a peaceful election," she said, appealing to parents to warn their children against political thuggery, killing and destroying properties before, during and after the election.
The Community Orientation and Mobilisation Officer counselled the electorate to ensure they come out to vote, in performance of their civic right to choose their best candidate.
She explained that failure to vote for their right choices will pave the way for a wrong selection that would not benefit them.
Oladoyin also emphasised that they have charged the electorate to know the logo of their parties, and maintained that physically challenged people, pregnant women and the aged would be given preferential treatment.
The officer warned against vote buying, saying that voting will be between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., and anyone who comes late would not be allowed to vote.
Oladoyin charged the electorate to desist from coming to polling units with weapons, but to "give peace a chance."
Mrs Oluwatoyin Hammed of the National Orientation Agency, Ife Central, was also in attendance.
