YORUBA RAINBOW COALITION ENDORSES GOVERNOR ADELEKE FOR SECOND TERM, BACKS PRESIDENT TINUBU FOR 2027

The Yoruba Rainbow Coalition, YRC, a united front of 112 Yoruba socio-cultural groups drawn from artisans, market women, professionals, the elites and the masses, rose from an emergency meeting held in the ancestral city of Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Sunday, 26th July 2026, with a clear resolve to stand for continuity, cultural values and purposeful governance.

The YRC was birthed as a result of an emergency meeting of the indigenous groups summoned by the Yoruba Council Worldwide (YCW), under the leadership of His Royal Majesty, Aare Sooko Oladotun Hassan Esq,

The aim of the meeting was for the various groups to adopt a common position on how to secure a credible, beneficial and violent-free electoral outcomes that would fast track development as well as check politically motivated violence in Yoruba-land.

"After extensive deliberations on the state of our people, the economy and the future of democracy in Yoruba-land, the Coalition resolved to unanimously endorse His Excellency, Governor Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke, for a second term in the coming Osun State governorship election.

"Our position is hinged on the governor’s visible commitment to the people, his adherence to the sacred Omoluabi virtues of humility, integrity, service and respect, and the urgent need to consolidate the foundation that has been laid for our fragile democracy.

"We believe that at this defining moment, Osun cannot afford policy somersaults or distractions. What the state needs now is stability to complete ongoing projects, deepen inclusion for artisans and market women, and ensure that the dividends of governance reach every home," their communique reads.

In the same spirit of alignment for national progress, the Coalition also declared its full support for the second-term bid of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

"We are convinced that the Renewed Hope template being driven at the center provides the best pathway for a stronger Nigeria, and Osun must not be left behind. It is for this reason that we commend Governor Adeleke for the strategic alignment with the Federal Government, a move we believe will unlock more resources and development for our state."

Addressing journalists after the meeting, Gboyega Adeoye, spokesperson for the YCW said on behalf of the coalition that : “At this time when we are bracing for the second tenure of President Bola Tinubu, our people must ensure we put our home in strategic order to bequeath an unforgettable legacy for our nation Nigeria. The template for a better Nigeria and indeed Osun State have been successfully set and it is now time for our people to enjoy the dividend. We must not, through division or distraction, snatch defeat from the jaws of our stirring victory.”

The Yoruba Rainbow Coalition therefore calls on all sons and daughters of Osun State, at home and abroad, to remain focused and resolute, and to troop out en masse to give their votes to Governor Ademola Adeleke.

"We urge our people not to allow sentiments or fleeting distractions to rob us of the budding development now taking root across the state," Adeoye noted

As custodians of Yoruba social, traditional and cultural values, the 112 groups under YRC remain dedicated to promoting the Omoluabi ethos and ensuring that leadership at every level reflects the character, wisdom and unity for which the Yoruba nation is known.
