Residents of Mozambique Hall at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, have set the stage for the Golden Jubilee anniversary and the launch of a ₦500 million endowment fund to uplift the iconic Hall where they lived during their university days.
This was disclosed to journalists at a press conference held in the Conference Room of one of the iconic halls of the University.
In her remarks, Dr. (Mrs.) Bisi Anyadike, Chair, MOZA @ 50 Re-Union Committee, said: "MOZA @ 50 is more than a celebration. It is a covenant to secure the future of our Hall and empower the next generation of Mozambiqueens."

The Proprietress of Sunshine Nursery and Primary School, Hezekiah Oluwasanmi Road 7, Ile-Ife, added that Mozambique Hall, one of the iconic female halls at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, will celebrate 50 years of existence with a week-long Golden Jubilee themed: MOZA @ 50: HONOURING OUR PAST – POWERING OUR FUTURE, 1976-2026.
The Hall, established in 1976, has produced generations of leaders, professionals, and change-makers across Nigeria and globally. They will assemble to mark this milestone with a bold legacy project: a ₦500M endowment fund.
She stated that the endowment fund will support the following:
1. Infrastructural upgrade and maintenance of Mozambique Hall
2. Scholarships and academic support for indigent but exceptional female students of OAU
3. Health, welfare, and mentorship programmes for current and past students
4. Long-term sustainability to keep MOZA’s legacy alive for the next 50 years
Dr. Anyadike added that this is all to give back to the Hall where they lived during their university days, which shaped them with the academic instruction they received in the classrooms.
"We want whatever we are doing to outlive us so others coming on board can emulate it," she said.
A Board of Trustees (BOT) comprising distinguished Queens has been inaugurated to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective stewardship of the fund.
As Mozambiqueens, their slogan is:

Once A Mozambiqueen,
Always A Queen.
In the last 50 years of the Hall’s existence, more than 20,000 people have passed through Mozambique Hall. This is the first reunion of this magnitude, with over 200 people across the globe expected to join virtually, while many will be present on ground in Ife.

- Health Outreach & Community Service
- Public Fundraising Campaign
Lateefat Boluwatife, Joy Adekunle, and Evelyn Joseph, students who reside in the Hall, thanked the organizers and highlighted areas needing support, particularly water and sanitation in the convenience facilities.
Reeling out the week-long activities for MOZA @ 50, the Hall Chairperson, Miss Ayomide Ojokanola, stated that the activities will begin as follows:
Monday, 6th July, 2026 – Women in Leadership Lecture
Tuesday, 7th July – Tutorial Sessions
Wednesday, 8th July – Exhibitions
Thursday, 9th July – Sporting Activities
Friday, 10th July – Anniversary Celebration
Saturday, 11th July – Public Launch and Award Ceremony
Mozambique Hall, fondly called ‘MOZA’, was established in 1976 at OAU. The Hall is renowned for sisterhood, academic excellence, and leadership.
