The traditional ruler of Lukosi in Ile-Ife, Osun, Oba Abdul-Lateef Awojobi, has urged members of the community to resist the allure of travelling outside Nigeria.

Awojobi, the Loja of Lukosi Land, advised the people to focus on building a successful life within the country.

The Oba made the appeal on Thursday while engaging with members of Odobule and Arile Yakooyo Lukosi villages in Ife-South Local Government Area of Osun.

He described visas given by developed countries to Nigerians as modern-day tickets to slavery.

"As a chartered accountant who trained in America, I have discovered that there is nothing abroad that is not available here in Nigeria.

"I am not discouraging people from travelling abroad; travelling is part of acquiring knowledge, experience and exposure.

"However, what Nigerians need to survive and excel is already available in the country.

"Nigeria is blessed with natural resources, good land, manpower, and good weather.

"In fact, the weather in South-West Nigeria is deemed the best in the world by people in very harsh climates, like in the Arab world and Europe.

"However, the economic situation is making a lot of people think that travelling abroad is the only solution to survive, but it is not so," he said.

Awojobi encouraged members of the community to be resilient and have faith in their country.

He called for cooperation and unity among community members, promising to ensure the development of the area.
