My throne not affected by Kingship case transfer to Osun - Salu of Edunabon

The Salu of Edunabon, His Royal Majesty Kehinde Oladepo Adesoji, Akinrinsa II, has reaffirmed that his throne is not affected by the Kingship case transfer from Court of Appeal, Akure, to Osun.

HRH Adesoji stated this in a phone conversation with pressmen on Thursday.

He said that there were three Kingmakers in Edunabon: Olosi, Monigbere and Olukotun, adding that Olosi was appointed on Sept 30, 2015, Monigbere died in 2006 and was not replaced before former Salu, Oba Elijah Omoboye, joined his ancestors.

According to him, HRM Omoboye passed away on Aug 4, 2017 and Emmanuel Olaniyan, Olukotun, also died on Nov 30, 2017, three months after the demise of Late Salu, Oba Elijah Omoboye.

The present Salu explained that in the absence of the three kingmakers, the constitution stipulated the appointment of the Warrant Chiefs by the local government authority.

HRM Adesoji expressed that as pronounced by the Court of Appeal, Akure, the Stool of Salu of Edunabon is recognised under the constitution, so the process must be in line with the law.

"So the process that installed him as Salu of Edunabon is known to the constitution and was thoroughly supervised by the local government authority.

Salu, who faulted the claim by Olosi, said that Olosi appointed other two kingmakers, which he added that under the constitution, a Chief has no power to appoint any Chief," he emphasised.

Salu stressed that when they were not satisfied with his selection, the law says they must write to the state government within 21 days; failure to do that means that they were satisfied with the selection.

"17 days after, I was approved as Salu of Edunabon, after which they later went to court, and now to the Court of Appeal that has now ruled that the case should be transferred to Osun High Court, in which Chief Judge Adepele Ojo should assign it to another High Court judge," Salu stated.

He appreciated the people of Edunabon for their support and urged them to continue with their commercial activities without fear, saying that there is no cause for alarm.
