Philanthropist donates building to OAUTHC Geriatric Centre in Osun

The Philanthropist who doubles as Ajirowa of Ijesaland, Chief Lateef Bakare, has donated a complex building to Ijesaland Geriatric Centre of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex.(OAUTHC).


The Official Commissioning of Chief Bakare Complex by Owa Clement Haastrup, Ajimoko 111, was in commemoration of his 70th Birthday Anniversary, at Geriatric Centre, Ilesa, on Saturday.

The Owa Obokun and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland in his Speech, appreciated God for the grace given to all and sundry to witness the day and to grace the occasion .

He commended the donour and other Ijesa indigene for their generous donations towards the grown and development of Ijesaland generally even before his ascension to the throne and there after.

According to him, the Ijesaland had been enjoying government benefit as well as stakeholders providing basic needs, improving Geriatric Centre, healthcare services, given scholarships, insurance scheme for masses, build befitting palace as well.

Owa Haastrup applauded Ijesa Wives Elites for allowing their husbands to contribute their quota generously for progress of the land.

Earlier, the Chief Medical Director, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Prof. John Okeniyi, thanked God for the life of Chief Bakare, who has been using God's provision for God and humanity.

Okeniyi, while commended Chief Bakare, said that some people will promise, but would not be able to fulfilled, but Chief Bakare pledged for the building early this year and was able to complete as well as provided all equipment needed.

According to him, if we can see three Nigerians like him at least in each local government, the country would have been a better place to live and people would not need travelling out of the country for greener pasture.

The Chief Medical Director pledged that the teaching hospital would maintain the building and all equipment given, while the place would be effectively used for human services.

Also, the Philanthropist Lateef Bakare, returned all the Glory to God for being a partaker of the good gesture, saying "it's a privilege" given to him and his family to donated.

According to him, Geriatric Centre has been the gold of Ijesaland agenda for only Ijesa indigenes donated the center without the contribution of government or non-indigenes for the service of humanity.

Bakare called on other stakeholders, philanthropists of Ijesaland to continuing supporting and donating for the needs and services of humanity, assured that government alone cannot do it.

Some of the dignitaries that attended the occasion are: Former Governor of Osun, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, traditional rulers from nooks and crannies of Ijesaland, principal officers of OAUTHC among others.
