Foreign Links Campus, Ile Ife inducts community health Practitioners

The Registrar, who doubles as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria(CHPRBN), Alhaji Bashir Idris, has said that Foreign Links Campus,Moro, inducted 50 Community Health Practitioners.

Idris, who was represented by Mr Abayomi Great, the Zonal Technical Officer, South West, gave the charge during the Maiden Induction of Community Health Practitioners, College of Health Technology Foreign Links Campus Moro, Ife North, on Wednesday.

The Registrar charges health community professionals to be a good ambassador of community health Practitioners in Nigeria, overseas.


The Health Practitioner urged the newly qualified Community health workers to be diligent, maintain their professional dignity, uphold the ethical standard of the profession and uphold the professional decorum at all levels of their duties.

He said that no matter the challenges, they should try to stand firmly as a true professional and ambassador of health community in Nigeria and overseas.

The Registrar acknowledged President Bola Tinubu for ensuring that the frontline healthcare worker and the re-fertilisation of primary healthcare system is renewed hope agenda.

He stated further that all the primary healthcare centres across the state are being scrutinized with free healthcare service and free drugs among other benefits.

Earlier, Dr Nsikak Akpan, the Provost, foreign links campus moro congratulated inductees for their endurance and perseverance throughout their course of studies that make them to come out in flying colours with a milestones achievement.

Akpan assured them that they are not just health workers, but educators, counsellors, advocates and agents of change that make community to really on them for their healthcare.

"You'll serve in challenging terrain, face limited resources and sometimes encounter skepticism or resilience, remember the sacred oath taken to serve with integrity, compassion and unwavering professionalism.

"Let your conduct uphold the dignity of the profession, let your competence restore trust in primary healthcare and let your compassion bring healing where it is needed most.

"Remember that healthcare practice is not a job, it's a calling, a call to save life, a call to restore health, a call dignify humanity, a call to give hope to the sick and vulnerable, do not betray the call". He hesitated.

Also, the Institutional Registrar, Mrs Clara Akinosun, tasked the professional to have attentive care and sympathetic heart more than medication, for their patients to open up for them.

Mrs Akinosun reminded them that prevention is better than cure, they need to sensitive the people of their community on personal hygiene, merit of vaccination, advantage of good nutrition and the importance good healthcare.

The Registrar asked them to prioritise the healthcare of their community citizens, for they are more useful to them than their uniform, certificate and license.

"You are to fill the gap between people and the healthcare system. You'll  face challenges of lack of resources, lack of social amenities, terrible route, but your commitment, patient and unwavering trust will make them to have good health.

You are an important cornerstone in your community , seek more knowledge to become more acceptable in your community, be a good ambassador of this citadel of learning and be a blessing to your community'. She urged.

In his remarks, Dr Fola Akinosun, the President/Chairman, Foreign Links, said that the Induction into community health Practitioners not the highest place in the service.

Akinosun encouraged them to be exemplary in the profession, in the area of training they should hold it firm, they should develop themselves and their profession and society at large so as to be ambassador of tomorrow for Nigeria.

He therefore announced that all is set for foreign links campus to be a full fledge university and congratulates the inductee

One of the inductees, Okunola Taiwo, appreciated God, parents and the board of management of their school for tutoring them to the right part.

Taiwo pledged that they will not disappoint their citadel of learning, society, professional, but would key to all that have impacted on them for the betterment of their future.
