A 35-year-old man has been remanded in custody for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl

A 35-year-old man, Ayodele Solomon was remanded by an Ile-Ife Magistrates' Court, on Monday, for allegedly defiled 11-year-old girl(name withheld).


The Prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Osanyintuyi, alleged that the defendant committed the offence on June 13, 2025 at Agbadagbudu Area, Kosere, Ile-Ife.

Osanyintuyi said that the defendant unlawfully defiled 11-year-old girl (name withheld) by having carnal knowledge of her without her consent.

He added that the defendant conducted himself in a manner that may likely caused breakdown of law and order at Agbadagbudu Area which is opened to a public place in Ile-Ife.

According to him, the defendant knew that defilement of minor without her consent may caused a great pandemonium in the area.

The Prosecutor stated further that the offence contravened sections 218 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The defendant who was not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to two-count charge of rape and breach of peace.

Magistrate Abosede Sarumi did not grant the bail of the defendant, but ordered for his remand in Ile-Ife Nigerian Correctional Service.

The case was adjourned until July 28 for mention.
