CMD OAUTHC plays host to CMS Old Students Association

By Dorcas El Prof John Okeniyi,  the Chief Medical Director, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, has hosted old students' association of Christian Missionary Society(CMS) grammar school.




Okeniyi played the hosts of old grammarians society at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), on Friday in Ile-Ife.

The Chairman of the association, Mr Babajide Adeagbo, 1984 set, said that the association watch their colleagues performance whenever government appointed them, to ensure that they keep the ethics standard of the school.

Adeagbo added that after a while they give them visit from Lagos, to commend and support those that do well and otherwise admonished those that perform below standard on area they can raise the flag.

He noted that the CMD's performance since resumed to office has been so great as heard online and that's the reason they are here so as to applauded him and charge him for more.

In his remarks, Prof Okeniyi explained that he was overwhelmed for receiving his August visitors for meeting again after some decades.

He expressed that OAUTHC has been a wonderful institution that has been well known by all Nigerians, saying that the hospital will clock 50 years this year.

The CMD added that he sit on legacy that he's too little to fill, a Professor and alumnus of the University and hold the position dearly.

He narrated that the hospital was in turmoil when he came as CMD after the successor between four to five leaders, saying there was industrial unrest through illegality employment which has taken peculiar time to resolve them.

According to him, the system has been sanitised, we've done two promotion exams, first one, almost 400 people, while the second one this year entails 774 persons got promoted by merit computer base.

He reaffirmed that staff doesn't need to know anybody, neither to lubricate anything, for they can't be cheated, stated further that they have had conversion and junior staff promotion almost 100 as well.

"So on that part in terms of staff welfare and promotion, I think we are doing excellently well, we are trying to redeploy resources.

"Ile-Ife has no fire service for example. We are currently training 40 people to be able to address the needs of the people and for prevention is better than cure.

"In terms of our call mandate, our is to provide excellent services and we are doing well in surgeries like open heart surgery, complex congenital heat diseases.

"This is helping Nigeria to avert capital at the local level instead of travelling to India, Egypt and Israel among other countries". He stated.

According to him, the complex are on the third batch of training cardio thoracic staff, we are investing on manpower development and research, oncology, child development.

Okeniyi said that they have four training schools such as nurses, community health, records and radiographers.

"We are moving from analog to digital age, we have started deployment our electronic health records and this year we'll digitalise administration of this hospital.

"Power has been our major problems, we witnessed how power adversely  affected Ibadan UCH for nine-month. But we are looking forward for way out, presently we are rationalising are using solar power.

"We have 19 accreditation visit for all our programmes, hoping to get good results, all the previous 18, we have heard excellent results. All our programmes here are fully accredited.

"We saw the amenity in Ilesa Wesley Guild that we opened last week, we have new urology building here and we have massive donations". He stated.
