Residents of Mozambique Hall at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has set the stage gathering for its golden jubilee anniversary and #500 million endowment fund to uplift the iconic Hall they lived during their University days.
This was disclosed to Journalists at the Press Conference held at the Conference Room of one of the iconic Hall of the University.
In her words, Dr. (Mrs.) Bisi Anyadike, Chair, MOZA @ 50 Re-Union Committee said, MOZA @ 50 is more than a celebration. It is a covenant to secure the future of our Hall and empower the next generation of Mozambiqueens
The Proprietress of Sunshine Nursery and Primary School, Hezekiah Oluwasanmi Road 7, Ile-Ife said, Mozambique which is one of the iconic Female Hall at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife will celebrates 50 years of existence with a week-long Golden Jubilee theme: MOZA @ 50 HONOURING OUR PAST - POWERING OUR FUTURE, 1976-2026.
The Hall which was established in 1976 and has produced generation of leaders,
professionals, change- makers across the Nigeria and globally will assembled together to mark this milestone with a bold legacy project of #500M endowment fund.
She posited that the endowment fund will fund the followings: Infrastructural upgrade ad maintenance of Mozambique Hall; scholarships and academic support for indigent female students of OAU who are exceptional but not financial backing; health, welfare and mentorship programmes for current and past students and long term sustainability to keep MOZA's legacy alive for the next 50 years.
Anyadike added that all these is just to give back to the Hall they lived in their University days which really shaped them with the academic instructions they received in the classrooms.
We wants whatever we are doing to outlive us so others coming on board can emulate it.
A Board of Trustees (BOT) comprising of distinguished Queens has been Inaugurated to ensure transparency, accountability and effective stewardship of the fund.
As a Mozambiqueens, their slogan is Great,
Great,
Once A Mozambiqueens,
Always A Queen.
In the last 50 years of the existence of the Hall, more 20,000 peoples had passed through the Hall and this is the first time we are having a Re-Union of such and over 200 peoples across the globe will join the event on virtual while many will be on ground here in Ife.
The jubilee highlights will include:
Grand Re-Union Gala of Mozambiqueens both physical and virtual,
Hall Dedication and Infrastructural Projects, Awards Night, Health Outreach & Community Service and lastly Public Fundraising Campaign
Lateefat Boluwatife, Joy Adekunle, Evelyn Joseph students who resides in the Hall thank the organizers for this and speaks on areas they want them to kindly assist the Hall which centres on water and sanitation in the convenience place.
Reeling out the week-long activities for Moza @ 50 celebration. The Hall chairperson, Miss. Ayomide Ojokanola alluded that the activities will begins on Monday, 6th July, 2026 with 'Women in Leadership Lecture'
Tuesday, 7th - Tutorials session
Wednesday, 8th - Exhibitions
Thursday, 9th - Sporting Activities
Friday, 10th - Anniversary Celebration
Saturday, 11th - Public Launch and Award Ceremony.
Mozambique Hall fondly called 'MOZA' was established in 1976 at OAU. The Hall is renowned for sisterhood, academic excellence and leadership.
