One Akinwale Rejoice, 19 and her boy friend, Olatunde Samuel, 25, were arraigned on Monday, before an Osun Magistrates' Court sitting in Ile-Ife over alleged N950,000 fraud.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that Rejoice committed the offence sometimes in April, 2025 around 10:00 am at Opa Road, Ile-Ife.
Osanyintuyi said that Samuel committed the offence sometimes in May 16, 2025 around 2pm at Afeki Zone 5, Opa Road, Ile-Ife.
He added that Rejoice fraudulently converted cash sum of N950,172.00 to her own use, being proceed of sale of premium motor spirit (PMS), property of one Adejumo Sefiu Adeniji.
According to him, Samuel received the sum of N95,000 from Akinwale Rejoice, being aware that it was a stolen property of one Adejumo Sefiu Adeniyi.
The Prosecutor stated further the offence contravened sections:383, 390(6) and 427 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The Defence Counsel, IleriOluwa Egbewale, applied for the bail of the defendant in most Liberal term, promised that his client would not jump bail, but would provide reliable sureties.
Magistrate Abosede Sarumi granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of N200,000 with one surety each in like amount.
Sarumi said that the sureties must swear to affidavit of means, resident within the court jurisdiction, be a land owner as well as deposit three years tax clearance certificate.
She added that the sureties must provide the means of Identification, their addresses to be verified by the Prosecutor with presentation of three recent passport photographs each.
The Magistrate ordered for their remand at "A" Division, Moore Police station for seven days, pending the perfection of their bail.
The case was adjourned until June 23, for hearing.
